Trees on Hollins Lane - update from Cllr Dodgson
12th of June, 2023
At the last parish council meeting (5th June 2023) it was reported that damage had been done to a sycamore tree on the embankment/curtilage opposite Shireshead Gardens. I investigated this and took photographs after which I reported this to Wyre Borough Council Tree Officer, R Arrell. He came back with a prompt response advising he would be referring the matter to Lancashire County Council as the trees on the embankment were their responsibility.
W. Hall from LCC investigated the matter and visited the site saying that the branch removal had not been carried out by LCC and that a letter would be sent to residents "to gently inform them of the correct way to report significant risks concerning trees on the carriageway, as well as signposting to key information on LCC tree maintenance and ownership, will hopefully abate any further acts of pruning."
In addition to this, he has found that a nearby ash tree has to be removed as it has ash dieback " to such an extent the live crown is below 50% remaining. In keeping with Forestry Commission guidelines, and the potential risk profile of the location, removal is the most prudent option."
This should be replaced at some point according to their (LCC) guidelines.
